We are excited to share with you highlights of the work that The Institute for Poetic Medicine has been able to offer during 2024 through the generosity of our partner organizations and the contributions and support from you, our IPM Community.

 

IPM programs rely on the poetry circle facilitators who bring poetry and poetic medicine to their local areas and online to people around the world.

Program leaders (PPM Graduates, IPM Poetry Partners, Peer Poetry Facilitators, and Volunteers) that worked with IPM this year included:

These IPM 2024 programs served these communities:


  • Chaplains and Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Students,

  • Doctors and Nurses in the Medical Humanities Community,

  • Elders in Assisted Living & Memory Care Settings,

  • Immigrants and Refugee Youth and Adults,

  • Interns in Hospice Training Programs,

  • Medical Staff, Interns and Volunteers

  • Neurofibromatosis (NF) Patients and Support Group Leaders,

  • Nonprofit Staff, Board Members and Program Facilitators,

  • People Living with Cancer, Their Loved Ones & Caregivers

  • People Living with Substance Abuse and/or Trauma

  • People Living with Parkinson's Disease, Their Loved Ones & Caregivers,

  • Veterans (in hospital programs, community centers, and included deported Veterans through extended online offerings).

 

 

These programs embody IPM's Mission to offer tools and support to heal body, mind, and spirit through the creative and therapeutic process of hearing, speaking, and writing poetry.

 *As part of the 2024 funding from SingHealth, John Fox brought the practice of poetic medicine to doctors/trainees, nurses/hospice, those in the medical humanities, and others serving those with cancer, as well as patients in the SingHealth (Singapore Health Services) system.
